The Importance of Data Collection in Adult Day Services

Date: July 12, 2024

Session Description: Adult Day Services (ADS) has long been hailed as the best kept secret in long term care. Beyond the variable regulation and implementation of ADS, one of the major barriers to promoting ADS is the lack of available representative and quantitative data on the value of ADS to the participants, their caregivers, payors, and the community at large. The National Adult Day Services Association (NADSA) undertook the effort to coalesce around a comprehensive set of outcomes measures and has recently published a set of free, accessible, and easy-to-use evidence-based outcomes measures to show the longitudinal value of ADS to all involved parties. This presentation will provide an overview of the process and outline the measures currently selected, as well as provide information on how to begin to use these measures and collect the data needed to promote ADS to the public. By using standard measures, the ADS community at large can begin to educate the general public on its value proposition and take the industry from the best-kept secret to a known and highly utilized system of supports and services.
