Overcoming Barriers in Providing Optional SADS Services
Date: May 30, 2025
Session Description:
This training is designed to help Social Adult Day Care (SADC) program staff and administrators identify, address, and overcome the common barriers that limit access to optional services—such as case assistance, caregiver support, transportation coordination, and other supports outlined in a participant’s Person-Centered Service Plan (PCSP).
Grounded in Home and Community-Based Services (HCBS) Final Rule compliance and Title 9 New York Codes, Rules, and Regulations (NYCRR) §6654.20, this training will empower participants to:
- recognize barriers across five key domains: participant, caregiver, programmatic, communication, and cultural.
- strengthen documentation practices for oversight readiness.
- develop Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, and Time-bound (SMART), person-centered goals for optional services.
Presenters:
- Yvonne Ward, Past Vice President of Policy, New York State Adult Day Services Association
- Tammy Ryan, Vice President of Programming, New York State Adult Day Services Association
